History of the Bangladesh Professional Boxing Association (BPBA)

Introduction

The Bangladesh Professional Boxing Association (BPBA) was officially established in 2020. It marked the beginning of a new era for professional boxing in Bangladesh. The association was created to support athletes and elevate the sport to international standards.

The Vision Behind the Foundation

A vision to build a structured professional boxing platform in Bangladesh was brought by Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman upon his return to the country on September 20, 2020. At that time, professional boxing had no formal structure in Bangladesh. A proposal was shared with the Bangladesh Amateur Boxing Federation, but cooperation was not achieved.

Official Registration and Recognition

bold step was taken in October 2020. A registration request for the Bangladesh Professional Boxing Association was submitted to the Government of Bangladesh. By November 2020, the registration was approved. This milestone officially introduced professional boxing to the nation.

Leadership and Early Challenges

Mr. Md. Asaduzzaman was appointed as the President of BPBA. Under his leadership, events and operations were launched. Recognition was later granted by the National Sports Council. Despite political challenges and delays in documentation, the mission continued with determination.

Over 70 Events Organized Nationwide

Since its inception, more than 70 professional boxing events have been hosted across Bangladesh. These events have increased awareness, created opportunities, and placed Bangladesh on the global boxing map. Athletes, coaches, and organizers have been empowered through each successful event.

Creating a Sustainable Boxing Economy

A sustainable income model was developed through BPBA. For the first time in Bangladesh, professional boxers, referees, coaches, promoters, and sponsors were offered financial growth through the sport. Lives have been transformed, and a new sports industry has emerged.

Future Plans: Boxing University and Industry Growth

One of the most ambitious goals of the BPBA is to establish the first Boxing University in Bangladesh. This institution will offer professional education, training, and career development. It will also create jobs, develop future sports leaders, and strengthen the national economy.

Conclusion: Building a Lasting Legacy

The Bangladesh Professional Boxing Association has reshaped the sports landscape in Bangladesh. Through strategic planning, consistent effort, and visionary leadership, professional boxing has been formalized and given a global stage. The BPBA continues to work toward making boxing one of the most influential industries in the country.
